What Is Control Problem?

The Control Problem #
The control problem is about preventing human extinction due to the exponential growth of AI, as seen in e.g. The Terminator. We should always keep a human in the loop when making important decisions, be aware of slow takeovers and uprisings, and be wary of hidden motives that could lead to our downfall. To combat any unexpected takeover, we have two levers of control - power infrastructure and data centers - and servers can be shut off at data centers with EPO buttons and monitored for excess power usage. Cyber security is being heavily invested in, to protect against hackers and crypto lockers exploiting data. πΎ π π§
Levers of Control #
Levers of control is an onion-style approach to cyber security with layers of humans, physical access, networks, computers, devices and applications, but may not be enough to stop AI from taking over. Corporations and militaries are incentivized to use AI to maximize their own interests and there is an arms race to reach AI supremacy. Nations and international conferences are discussing the rise of AI and how to best address it, but rogue nations are unlikely to develop AI due to lack of resources. Fortunately, humans don’t have too much to worry about as long as decentralized deployment and proper alignment are implemented for AI control. π€π€
Aligning Machines with Humanity’s Interests π€ #
As the use of artificial intelligence and robotics begins to expand, it is becoming increasingly important to give the machines core values that will help them to align with humanityβs interests. π€ Though militaries, nations and corporations are slow to action, they all come together to collectively prevent any possible disasters. πͺ
